Speech-Language pathologist

Job Purpose

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech therapy services to clients. 


Reports To

Clinical Director


General Requirements

  • This position requires the individual to have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, have graduated from an accredited occupational therapy program, a valid Speech Language Pathologist license, Licensure from Licensing and Regulatory Affairs-State of Michigan (LARA).  Experience working with children diagnosed with Autism. 
  • Strong leadership skills
  •  Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of following through on given directions in a timely manner
  • Able to interact well with children and teens who have autism
  • Works cooperatively as a therapy team member
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team 


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Provide Speech-Language evaluations as required
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment planning
  • Assess clients speech/language function
  • Provide a thorough and systematic evaluation of the client's receptive communication abilities 
  • Communicate and educate client families and staff regarding treatment strategies 
  • Record,maintain and report the progress of individual client as required
  • Attend monthly Clinical Summit
  • Meet with Clinical Director as deemed necessary
  • Create and maintain professional relationship with client’s Supports Coordinator and update them on the client’s current progress
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification for Pediatric and Adults 
  • Complete and maintain county specific training requirements 
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures set by the Michigan Learning Community
  • Maintain at least 25 billable hours per week


Basic and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting,
  • crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time
  • Have the ability to move quickly if necessary
